For those of you that are not familiar, "Workampers" are adventuresome
individuals and couples who have chosen a wonderful lifestyle that
combines ANY kind of part-time or full-time work with RV camping.
If you work as an employee, operate a business, or donate your time as
a volunteer, AND you sleep in an RV, you are a Workamper!
campground. We cater heavily to an overnight transient
business. Every night many RV's stop for a nights rest and pull
out the next morning to continue their travels. The campground
also enjoys hosting a large number of weekend guests mainly coming from
Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and DC. As pictured below, the
campground also has the ability to host extremely large and unusual
RV's. This all combines to make everyday an interesting day at Candy
Hill Campground.

Candy Hill
Campground generally hires workampers both as couples or as individuals
and each on slightly different terms.
Generally, Candy Hill Campground will provide a campsite consisting of
a pad for
your rig, equipped with water, electric and sewer hookups.
Wireless Internet is also available, and service may be arranged
directly with the provider.
Job responsibilities will be assigned according to the abilities
and
preferences of each workamper, in conjunction with the needs of the
campground. Duties may include some light grounds keeping
including mowing, weed-whacking, and planting and tending
flowerbeds. Maintenance tasks consist of general electrical and
plumbing upkeep and repair. In the winter, plowing snow may be a
necessity. Occasional cleaning of the bathhouse, rental cabins,
club lounge and
pavilion are also responsibilities that may be assigned. Security
may be assigned as the job of a workamper, this is generally after they
have mastered escort and site familiarization. Candy
Hill prides itself on escorting all incoming campers to their sites, so
escort service is a possible job assignment. Additionally,
workampers may be asked to pump propane, if already certified to do so,
or to take the brief course enabling them to become certified.
Finally, all workampers assist in greeting guests and providing general
customer service.
For Couples, the first 12 hours
of work per
week, per person, cover the value of the campsite.
For Individuals, the first 24 hours
of work per
week, cover the value of the campsite. Hours worked
in excess of 12 for couples and 24 for individuals are remunerated at
the rate of $7.25
per hour, payment to be made by payroll check within five days
following
the l5th and the last date of each month. Additionally, any
person working April through October will get a bonus of $.50 per paid
hour upon completion of the contract. Days off include at
least two days per week, which a couple may take separately or
together. Additional time off may be arranged by providing seven
days advance notice. Overall, hours are quite flexible and may be
arranged with Candy Hill’s General Manager, on a weekly basis,
according to the needs and desires of the individuals and the
Campground. Perks include discounts on store merchandise and on
LP gas.
Candy Hill Campground maintains a smoke-free environment in all our
buildings. It is important that this NOT pose problems for
employees.
Members of workampers’ families are welcome to visit at no charge and
to enjoy all facilities of the park. If guests plan to use a site
for an RV, workampers may opt to work additional hours to cover the
cost of the site, in lieu of their guests paying site fees.

A $100 deposit for
your site reservation will be required but it will
refunded with your second paycheck.
